It happened to be a sunny day in Portland when this picture was taken.  Supposedly, one of the FEW days that it is sunny in Portland from what all my friends that live there say. I have a love/hate relationship withe Sun.  I was born in the desert of Arizona, Tucson to be exact, and it is ALWAYS sunny there. That isn’t a bad thing, but it is very hot there for half the year.  Just watch Dune, either the newer Scifi version or David Lynch version, and you get the idea what it is like living in the desert.

The summer tour for The Vespertine Orchestra is behind me, and now back to private lessons and other music projects including promotion and production for TVO. The music production for the CD was probably the most effortless thing I have ever experienced.  Sadie was knocking those vocals tracks in one to two takes.  My guitar tracks were also one to two takes.  The music on “Higher Ground” was really one take with nothing rehearsed.  In fact, we just press play just after Svetlana Granvold had finished writing the lyrics while we were recording another song.  All the tunes were mastered as soon as we had finished adding everything we were going to have on each of them.  We would burn copies of the songs and then live with them on our car stereo systems to see how the mixes were holding up. All in all, the music was easiest part of the whole project.  Now we are both running to what everyone else in the “music business” already knows, getting your music out there is THE hardest part of the whole thing.
